Ryan: Microsoft and HP show off 'slate' PC CES 2010

Yawn fest, Grandads first day online, slapdash - All phrases being passed around by Tech blogs regarding Steve Ballmer's ridiculously boring Keynote presentation at CES 2010! Steve attempted to intoduce a new table form of computing focusing on a "HP Slate" The product was good, not inspirational but good all the same. Steve on the other hand must be the worst improvisational speaker on earth or cant read his notes?

CES 2010 has seen an explosion of "Table/Slate" computers, alot of people are putting this down to the much "Rumored" Apple iSlate. CES has brought tablets running on windows 7 starter, Linux and Android.

Apple are also reported to be gearing up to launch a slate device in late January to go on sale in March, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The HP device is also expected to go on sale later this year.

The lack of enthusiasm for the product was in part due to speculation about what - if anything - Apple may launch.

Rumours of a Apple slate - dubbed the iSlate - has dominated the blogosphere in recent weeks, although there has been no formal announcement by the Cupertino-based company.
