This is a cool idea, The Carphone Warehouse in the UK are starting an App awards ceremony called "Appys" to award the best Apps from around the world from all mobile OS's.

The Carphone Warehouse is packed full of people who know about technology, we are passionate about mobiles, tablets and apps and love to learn something new about them every day. Regardless of what smartphone, tablet or operating system you have, there are countless apps available to integrate into your lifestyle and enjoy.
To recognise and celebrate apps and app developers, we have created a very special awards ceremony – The Carphone Warehouse Appys. We at The Carphone Warehouse have selected our top apps along with a panel of experts in the app world, to find the best 50 to present to our customers, in categories such as Best Lifestyle App, Best Game App and Best Time Saver App. You can now vote for your favourite in each category and the winners will be announced at a special Gala event in a central London location.
