Ryan: My best App ever from the AppStore

When was the last time you found a perfect App? Perfect App is a strong statment but one I am willing to make for "AirVideo" I downloaded this app because of a problem I wanted to overcome, I have over 200GB of video media which I have stored on an external harddrive. The only problem is that untill now if I wanted access to this media I had the sync my iPhone with iTunes to get the video I want. Now AirVideo changes that, for under £2 it gives you an App that can stream video and movies from your computer to your iPhone over both WiFi and 3G! And also convert any non-compatible media in the process! This means you can access your vast media anywhere in the world! Alongside the App you download a small yet clever desktop app which controls the streaming for you including setting up the ports and letting you password protect your stream, you can also have it so it only streams one folder or a selected playlist from iTunes! (can not stream DRM) But boy does it do it well! It feels like a native app with no hanging or crashes to report! I can not wait to also use this great app on my iPad! you can also share media buy giving others your server pin and password, so you can share those perfect family moments! I can not describe in words how easy this is the setup! The App just does it for you! But don't take my word for it, search the App store for AirVideo and download the lite version and give it ago!

Ryan: What apple have planned for 2010

Steve Jobs held a town hall meeting with Apple employees late last week following the iPad launch. Two of the biggest topics included Google and Adobe.

On Google, Jobs confirms the much-reported competition between the two companies.
On Google: We did not enter the search business, Jobs said. They entered the phone business. Make no mistake they want to kill the iPhone. We wont let them, he says.

As for Adobe, Jobs said they are lazy and Jobs blames Adobe for a buggy implementation of Flash on the Mac as one of the reasons they won't support it.
Apple does not support Flash because it is so buggy, he says. Whenever a Mac crashes more often than not its because of Flash. No one will be using Flash, he says. The world is moving to HTML5.

Those are the main points covered by Wired's article. We had received a more detailed report of the Apple meeting, but hadn't been able to corroborate it until now. Many of the details of the Wired report line up with our anonymous submission, so we believe it likely to be accurate. Some additional key points that we learned:

- Apple will deliver aggressive updates to iPhone that Android/Google won't be able to keep up with
- iPad is up there with the iPhone and Mac as the most important products Jobs has been a part of
- Regarding the Lala acquisition, Apple was interested in bringing those people into the iTunes team
- Next iPhone coming is an A+ update
- New Macs for 2010 are going to take Apple to the next level
- Blu-Ray software is a mess, and Apple will wait until sales really start to take off before implementing it.

Ryan: Microsoft and HP show off 'slate' PC CES 2010

Yawn fest, Grandads first day online, slapdash - All phrases being passed around by Tech blogs regarding Steve Ballmer's ridiculously boring Keynote presentation at CES 2010! Steve attempted to intoduce a new table form of computing focusing on a "HP Slate" The product was good, not inspirational but good all the same. Steve on the other hand must be the worst improvisational speaker on earth or cant read his notes?

CES 2010 has seen an explosion of "Table/Slate" computers, alot of people are putting this down to the much "Rumored" Apple iSlate. CES has brought tablets running on windows 7 starter, Linux and Android.

Apple are also reported to be gearing up to launch a slate device in late January to go on sale in March, according to the Wall Street Journal.

The HP device is also expected to go on sale later this year.

The lack of enthusiasm for the product was in part due to speculation about what - if anything - Apple may launch.

Rumours of a Apple slate - dubbed the iSlate - has dominated the blogosphere in recent weeks, although there has been no formal announcement by the Cupertino-based company.

Ryan: Nexus one to be on vodafone, 3 and T-Mobile in the UK

3 and T-Mobile in discussion with Google to stock the Nexus One handset,
alongside Vodafone, but O2 rules out move at this time
Operators 3 and T-Mobile are expected to stock Google's Nexus One handset
within the next couple of months.

T-Mobile and 3 are in dialogue with Google to stock the HTC Nexus One handset,
which is to be avaialble through operators during Q1.

Vodafone has already confirmed it will stock the device in the coming months.

The handset is now on sale SIM free through Google for #331 and can work on any
GSM network. It is ALSO expected to be available at a subsidised cost when
purchased as part of a monthly contract.

3's head of internet services David Kerrigan said: "Its a great internet phone
and we expect plenty of people to import it to the UK. Our #15 Sims with
unlimited internet access, texts and 3-to-3 calls and 300 cross-net minutes are
ready and waiting.

"We see this as a natural platform for our unique Skype, Windows Live Messenger
and Spotify offers, David Kerrigan, head of internet services at 3."

A T-Mobile spokesperson said: "We can confirm that we are in discussions with
Google to stock the Nexus One.

"T-Mobile has an existing close relationship with Google with the G1 and G2 and
launched Android excusively so we are a trusted partner."

Orange declined to comment on whether it is involved in similar discussios with
Google to stock the Nexus One for confidential reasons.

O2 said it has no plans to stock the Nexus One at this time.

An O2 spokesperson said: "We have no current announcement to make about
supporting the Google Nexus One in the UK, but we will continue to review and
refresh our product range to ensure we meet the demands of our customers.

"As a general rule, to get the best experience from your mobile, we do not
advise customers to buy handsets which have not been specifically configured
for the O2 UK network.

"We welcome innovation in our industry, and have already seen devices such as
the Apple iPhone and Palm Pre have a huge effect on the way people use their
mobile phones. Things are moving fast and the range of services available on
phones is increasing rapidly, so our aim is to help customers choose the right
phone for them."

Ryan: Google make it real - Nexus One phone

Google has unveiled an own-brand smartphone called the Nexus One.

The wraps were taken off the handset at an invitation-only event held at Google's Mountain View HQ.

The Nexus One is a slim, touchscreen phone built in partnership with Taiwanese manufacturer HTC and runs Google's Android operating system.

It will be sold through the Google's website and will be available on the Vodafone network in Europe and T-mobile and Verizon in the US.

Mario Queiroz, Google vice president for product management, described the unveiling as "the next stage in the evolution of Android".

Mr Queiroz said there were now more than 20 Android phones available from 59 carriers in 48 countries.

The release of the Nexus One is seen as a move to ensure Google remains relevant as people search the web using mobile phones rather than typing queries into a PC.

Google makes the lion's share of its revenue by selling adverts linked to those queries.

At the briefing, Google said the Nexus was "a point of convergence where the web meets phone and is an example of what is possible on mobile through Android."

"You will see it pushes the limits of what is possible on a mobile phone today," said Peter Chou, HTC chief executive.

It will be sold through Google's website.

A spokesperson for Vodafone told BBC News that it was the first operator to "bring the Google phone to the UK" but stressed that it was a "non-exclusive agreement", meaning other networks could also offer the phone soon.

Ryan: Nokia has more sour grapes against Apple

The battle started by Nokia against Apple began in October with Nokia creating a lawsuit against Apple. Now they have hit again with a lawsuit claiming that almost ALL apple products infringe on there patients! Alot of people are starting to have bad feelings towards Nokia, beliving them to be saw lossers in the smart phone war. Nokia really need to step back and look at the bad publicity they are creating for themselves, it really feels like Nokia are grabbing at straws and are fighting a loosing battle. Time will tell but the damage that Nokia may create for themselves maybe unrepairable, they have already lost the worldwide top spot to samsung and are loosing more and more support.
