Apple, HP, Lenova. MSI, Asus and other players are all ready to bring the Internet to your fingertips though sexy multitouch gesture based slates. With intuitive OS from iPhone OS to Android and not forgetting windows 7, They all try to produce the “magical” experience in a slightly different way but in the end they are all 8-11 inch devices with full touch screen interfaces.
Apple has been the company to create all this hype around these devices but they were not the first to the tablet market, Tablets have been around for years but they have always failed in the past due to clunky full OS which have never worked with touch screens. So what will create the magic this time? It is not what these tablets can do its more how they do it, Internet browsing this not a new thing email has been around for years and mobile computing is and has been available for a long time. But with these devices you can hold the Internet in your hands, browse with a swipe of you finger and not lose screen size.
My term for these devices is “Sofa surfers” convenient ways to enjoy the Internet without the need to get out your laptop or sit in front of your desktop but at the same time getting a better experience than a smart phone. All of these company’s are and will be stretching out imaginations when it comes to mobile computing with great entertainment from movies to games and social networking again delivering the experience in full multitouch.
This sofa surfers will change the way we look at the internet, but don’t be fooled into thinking this is a replacement for your home pc, All of these devices are aimed as an alternative to the poorly build and badly designed netbooks on the market and for me I cant think of anything better.
